Women's Struggle Day
Women's Struggle Day, also known as International Women's Day, has been held annually on 8 March since 1921. It was founded by women of the socialist labour movement and was celebrated in various European countries and the USA at the time, primarily with the aim of achieving equal, secret and free voting rights for women. Today, the day is intended to draw attention to the problems and disadvantages of women, including and especially women who are marginalised in multiple ways: e.g. women with disabilities, trans women, women of colour, refugee women, etc.
