Amicussexual

Amicussexual describes a sexual orientation in which sexual attraction can only develop after a platonic relationship, friendship, or trusted non-sexual bond has already been formed with another person. Without such a prior connection, sexual attraction is usually not experienced.

The term is similar to demisexual, but it places particular emphasis on a platonic or friendship-based foundation. This does not mean that every friendship leads to sexual attraction, but rather that sexual attraction for amicussexual people may depend on an existing sense of platonic closeness.

Amicussexual can be understood as an identity on the asexual spectrum. As with all orientation terms, it describes personal experience; whether “amicussexual” feels accurate is for the individual to decide.
