Autoandrophilia refers to sexual arousal caused by imagining or experiencing oneself as male or as having a male body. The term comes from a medical and psychiatric context and has mainly been applied to people who were assigned female at birth. It is controversial because it can blur the distinction between gender identity, bodily experience, and sexual fantasy.

Trans men and transmasculine people in particular have sometimes been wrongly explained or diagnosed through the concept of autoandrophilia. This is clinically and ethically problematic: being transgender is not a paraphilia and cannot be reduced to sexual arousal. If the term is used at all, it should be used very cautiously, in context, and preferably only as a self-description.
