BB / Bareback

Bareback means sexual intercourse without a condom or other protective measures. The term was first used mainly in gay contexts, but today it is used more generally for unprotected sex. This significantly increases the risk of STI transmission; in vaginal sex there is also a risk of pregnancy.

Even in committed relationships, unprotected sex is not automatically risk-free. If a couple consciously chooses not to use protection, it should be based on mutual trust, open discussion and regular STI testing. The risk can never be fully eliminated, especially if fidelity cannot be guaranteed or other partners are involved.
