Cutting

In a BDSM context, cutting refers to deliberately cutting the skin with sharp instruments as a form of body modification or as part of an intense scene. Such practices are high risk and can lead to heavy bleeding, infection, scarring, and permanent damage. Cutting should not be confused with harmless play; it requires special caution, experience, and medical awareness of risk.

It is not a common or easily responsible BDSM practice. The idea of “marking” someone in this way is problematic and must not be equated with ownership or actual injury. Without explicit consent, proper preparation, and knowledge of wound care, cutting should not be performed; in many cases, it is clearly not advisable.
