BDSM

BDSM is an umbrella term for different practices and preferences around bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism. The term therefore covers a broad spectrum of practices, dynamics and role concepts. Not every BDSM practice includes all of these elements at the same time.

In German-speaking contexts, the shorter form SM is also often used, although strictly speaking it describes only part of BDSM. BDSM can be lived in very different ways: from light power play to more intense practices. What always matters is consent, clear communication, boundaries and safety.
