Philia
Philia generally refers to a strong affection, liking, or attraction toward something or someone. In psychological, medical, or sexual contexts, the term is used in different ways and may refer to specific interests, inclinations, or attachments. Its exact meaning depends heavily on the compound word and the relevant field.
It is important not to equate the term automatically with a sexual orientation. In many cases, “-philia” simply describes a preference or special interest, not necessarily sexual desire. Where problematic or non-consensual inclinations are involved, careful and responsible classification is necessary.
