Poppers
Poppers are volatile liquids, usually containing alkyl nitrites, that are inhaled and may cause a brief relaxing and vasodilating effect. In some scenes they are used as a recreational or sex-related substance. However, their effects are medically risky and unpredictable; use is discouraged.
Poppers can cause dizziness, a drop in blood pressure, headaches, fainting, and irritation of the airways or eyes. They are especially dangerous when combined with erectile dysfunction drugs such as sildenafil or with other nitrate medications, as this can lead to life-threatening drops in blood pressure. Extra caution is needed in cases of cardiovascular disease, pregnancy, or unexplained symptoms; seek immediate medical help if poisoning is suspected.
