Questioning

Questioning refers to people who are still exploring their sexual orientation, romantic orientation, or gender identity and have not yet found a label that feels right for them. The term describes a phase of searching, uncertainty, or reordering and is for many people an important part of identity development. People who identify as questioning may already see themselves as part of the queer community.

The term is intentionally open and can refer to different aspects of identity. It does not mean that someone is merely indecisive in a negative sense, but rather that their self-description is still developing or is being kept open on purpose.
