Revirgination
Revirgination refers to surgical procedures intended to reconstruct the hymen so that a hymen-like membrane is restored or an earlier “intact” appearance is suggested. Such procedures are usually requested for cultural, social, or personal reasons, but they are generally not medically necessary and do not reliably indicate sexual experience. The hymen is not a valid proof of virginity.
Because this is a surgical procedure, risks such as pain, bleeding, infection, scarring, and unsatisfactory results must be considered. Careful medical counseling is essential. From a professional standpoint, procedures driven by social expectations around virginity should be regarded critically and are not medically indicated.
