Apressexual

Apressexual describes a sexual orientation in which sexual attraction can only develop after another form of attraction toward the same person has already been experienced. This prior attraction may be romantic, platonic, aesthetic, sensual, emotional, or intellectual, for example.

The term does not specify which type of attraction must come first; it only describes that sexual attraction for the person in question does not arise independently of it. Apressexual may overlap with other orientation terms, but it is not the same as demisexual, because a close emotional bond is not necessarily required.

Apressexual can be understood as an identity on the asexual spectrum. As with all orientation terms, it describes personal experience; whether “apressexual” feels accurate is for the individual to decide.
