Romantic experience
The term romantic experience can refer to past romantic relationships or to a person’s own experience of romantic attraction and intimacy. In some contexts, it is also used to describe the gender of people someone has already had a romantic relationship with. However, the expression is imprecise and should only be used when the intended meaning is clear.
Because romantic experience can be understood in very different ways, a more precise formulation is often preferable. On its own, the term does not say anything about orientation, identity, or relationship ability. When in doubt, a concrete description is clearer than a broad label.
