Cupioromantic

Cupioromantic refers to a romantic orientation or self-description on the aromantic spectrum. People may describe themselves as cupioromantic if they experience little or no romantic attraction but still want a romantic relationship or wish to have romantic relationship elements in their life.

Cupioromanticism makes clear that romantic attraction and the desire for a romantic relationship are not the same thing. A person may not feel romantic attraction toward specific people and still experience closeness, partnership, shared rituals, commitment, or a romantically shaped relationship as fitting or desirable.

Cupioromantic people may live very different relationship models, such as romantic relationships, queerplatonic relationships, highly committed friendships, or no relationship at all. What matters is the person’s own self-description; the term should not be imposed from the outside or dismissed as a contradiction.
