Chubby

Chubby is a term used in gay and queer scenes. Fat or larger-bodied gay, bisexual, and queer men, as well as men who have sex with men or are attracted to men, may describe themselves as chubby. The term is often used in connection with bear, chaser, or body positivity communities.

Chubby primarily describes body shape or body size, but it can also be part of a positive self-description and of a sexual or social identity. Some people use the term confidently to name their body, their attractiveness, or their belonging to a particular scene.

Like many body-related terms, chubby can sound appreciative, neutral, or derogatory depending on the context. For that reason, it should not be applied to other people without their consent. What matters is whether a person uses the term for themselves and feels comfortable with it.
