E-Stim / TENS / Electrostimulation

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and is a medical electrotherapy used mainly for pain relief and muscle stimulation. In this context, electostimulation or E-stim refers to the use of electrical impulses for sexual or BDSM-related purposes, for example with specialized devices such as Violet Wands or other suitable equipment. These are distinct applications and should not be conflated.

The medical effectiveness of TENS is still debated; there is evidence of benefit for some pain conditions, but not for others. In BDSM, electostimulation is a risky practice and should only be attempted with proper knowledge, tested equipment, and extreme caution. Electricity must never be applied in an improvised or uncontrolled way; the chest, neck, head, injured skin, mucous membranes, and implants are especially dangerous areas.
