Lingam
Lingam is a term derived from Sanskrit that originally means a “sign” or “symbol.” In modern sexual and spiritual contexts, it is often used to refer to the penis, especially in tantric or Kama Sutra–influenced settings. The word is often perceived as more respectful or less clinical than purely medical terms.
Depending on the context, lingam can also carry a symbolic or ritual meaning beyond the physical body. It is important not to confuse the term with biological or cultural assumptions: not everyone with a penis uses or likes this word. As with all intimate language, it is appropriate only when it is wanted and understood by the people involved.
