Submissive

Submissive means submissive, compliant, or willingly taking on a more serving or yielding role. The term can be used in everyday language, in psychological contexts, and in BDSM settings, where its meaning depends on the situation.

In BDSM, submissive usually describes a preferred attitude or role in which a person partially gives up control and follows guidance or rules. This is not the same as weakness and, in adult consensual settings, always requires clear agreements, boundaries, and voluntariness. Describing it simply as “passive” or “shy” is too narrow and only partly accurate.
