Transvestitism / Crossdressing

Crossdressing refers to wearing clothing that is socially usually associated with another gender. The term describes a form of appearance or expression and is not automatically linked to a particular gender identity. It therefore says nothing about whether a person is trans, cis, or non-binary.

In BDSM and sexuality contexts, crossdressing can play a role as expression, roleplay, or fetish. It is important not to infer identity, orientation, or intention directly from clothing. The older term transvestitism is now often seen as outdated or imprecise; crossdressing is the more neutral and commonly used term.
