Otter

In gay, bisexual, and queer men’s communities, otter is a term that may be used by men who are typically slim to athletic in build and noticeably hairy. It is most commonly used by men who have sex with men and/or are attracted to men.

Otter is an informal self-description from queer body and dating culture and is related to terms such as bear, cub, or wolf. It primarily describes body type, body hair, and sometimes a certain style, but it does not reliably indicate personality, sexual role, preferences, or relationship style.

As with all such terms, otter should not be applied to someone without their consent if they do not use it for themselves. The term can be playful, identity-forming, or connected to attraction, but it should not be used to reduce people to physical characteristics.
