Total Power Exchange / TPE

Total Power Exchange is a BDSM relationship concept in which a power imbalance is maintained permanently between the partners. This imbalance may extend beyond sexual situations into everyday life, such as household matters, finances, communication, or rules. The term is often translated as “total power exchange,” although this rendering only approximates the meaning.

TPE is only sensible and responsible when everyone involved consents freely, with full information, and with the ability to withdraw consent at any time. Even within a strong power dynamic, consent, boundaries, aftercare, and the option to stop remain essential. In reality, personal autonomy is never completely eliminated; especially in binding arrangements, law, safety, and practical everyday suitability must always be taken into account.
