Objectification
In BDSM, objectification refers to the deliberate treatment of a submissive person as an object. This can take place within role play, discipline, or power-exchange dynamics, for example by assigning a rigid passive role or symbolically using the person as furniture, a surface, or a decorative element. The key point is that this must be consensual and understood as part of an agreed dynamic.
Such practices can be psychologically intense and should therefore only be carried out with clear agreements, boundaries, and a safeword. Objectification must not be confused with actual dehumanization; the person involved always remains a human being with rights, needs, and boundaries. Without consent, respectful handling, or if physically risky methods are used, the practice is not acceptable.
