Traffic light system

The traffic light system is a simple code system for communication during BDSM or other intense situations. It helps people express boundaries quickly and clearly, even when they do not want or cannot speak much during a scene. The colours usually mean: Green = everything is fine, continue; Yellow = slow down, be more careful, or check in; Red = stop immediately.

The traffic light system is especially useful when a scene becomes very intense, emotional or physically demanding. It does not replace proper discussion beforehand, but adds to it. It is important that everyone knows the meaning of the colours in advance and respects them. A safeword should always be taken seriously, especially Red. Some people also use a fixed stop signal, such as a hand gesture, when speaking is not possible.
