Ampallang

An ampallang is an intimate piercing through the glans of the penis. The jewellery is placed horizontally through the glans; depending on the variation, the urethra may be involved or may run just beside it. It is considered a very advanced piercing and should only be performed by an experienced piercer under sterile conditions. The procedure is painful and usually requires a long healing time.

What matters most is professional skill, hygiene and aftercare. Because the glans is highly sensitive and well supplied with blood, swelling, bleeding or difficulty urinating may occur. Jewellery should only be changed or stressed once healing is complete. Careful advice and proper aftercare are especially important for an ampallang.
