Queerplatonic
Queerplatonic, also called quasi-platonic, refers to a close relationship that is not romantic but can have a similar level of significance, commitment, and intimacy as a romantic relationship. The term is often used by aromantic people, but it can also be used by others. The expectations, boundaries, and forms of closeness involved are defined individually.
Queerplatonic relationships can look very different and may deliberately exist outside classic categories of friendship and romance. It is important that the people involved define the relationship clearly and consensually so that misunderstandings about feelings, exclusivity, or future expectations are avoided.
