Figging
Figging refers to a sexual or BDSM-related practice in which peeled and shaped ginger root is inserted into the anus or, more rarely, the vagina. The ginger irritates the mucous membranes and can cause strong burning, warmth, or discomfort. The practice has historical roots in punishment and erotic contexts and is known today as a risky sensory stimulation technique.
Figging should not be attempted lightly. Ginger can strongly irritate mucous membranes and may cause irritation, injury, or allergic reactions; therefore caution, hygiene, and consent are essential. It should not be used on injured or sensitive tissue, and it should be avoided if there is any uncertainty. The duration and intensity should be kept very low, and the person’s reactions must be monitored at all times.
