French (Oral Sex)

Oral sex includes all forms of sexual stimulation of the genitals using the mouth, lips, and tongue. The main forms are fellatio, the oral stimulation of the penis, and cunnilingus, the oral stimulation of the vulva. The term is often used broadly to refer to direct oral stimulation of the genital area.

In fellatio, the penis and, if desired, also the testicles are stimulated with the lips and tongue. A special form is deepthroating, where an erect penis is taken deeper into the throat; this should only be attempted with experience, relaxation, and great care. Gag reflex, breathing, and personal limits must be respected. If ejaculation takes place in the mouth, this must be mutually agreed upon; because oral sex can transmit sexually transmitted infections, safer-sex practices are advisable.

In cunnilingus, the vulva, labia, vaginal entrance, and especially the clitoris are stimulated with the mouth and tongue. The focus is usually on direct, controlled stimulation of sensitive areas. As with all oral sexual practices, safer-sex precautions apply: avoid it if there are open sores or infections, be cautious during menstruation and when signs of infection are visible, and agree in advance on boundaries, hygiene, and protection.
