Male to Male / MTM

MTM stands for “male to male” and is used in some contexts to describe sexuality, relationships, or media involving men. Depending on the context, the term may be understood in different ways and is not universally standardized. Unlike some other abbreviations, MTM is not a widely fixed or official term.

It is important to use the term carefully: when MTM is applied to trans men, it can be problematic or misleading because it reduces gender to a bodily or assigned category. Trans men are men, and their self-identification should be respected. Terms related to gender and identity should therefore always be used in the way intended by the people concerned.
