NuvaRing
NuvaRing is a hormonal contraceptive for women, also called a vaginal ring. It is a medical plastic ring that is inserted into the vagina and usually left in place for three weeks. This is followed by one ring-free week, during which a menstrual-like withdrawal bleed typically occurs. As with other combined hormonal contraceptives, ovulation is suppressed, reducing the risk of an unplanned pregnancy.
NuvaRing does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Before use, individual tolerability, possible contraindications, and the risk of thrombosis should be considered. Medical advice should be sought if there is pain, persistent bleeding irregularities, suspicion that the ring has shifted, or any uncertainty about correct use.
