Ovulation
Ovulation is the point in the menstrual cycle when a mature egg cell is released from the ovary. It can then be fertilized by a sperm cell in the fallopian tube. Ovulation usually occurs around the middle of the cycle and is one of the basic processes of human reproduction.
The term is used in both medical and general sexual contexts. Anyone wishing to avoid or plan a pregnancy should not rely on cycle timing alone as a method of contraception. If there are questions about fertility, the cycle, or conception, medical advice is recommended.
