Safewords

Safewords are used in BDSM to stop or slow down an activity when something becomes uncomfortable, too intense, or unexpected. They are a central tool of communication and belong in any responsibly agreed-upon session. Nonverbal signals are often arranged as well in case speaking is not possible.

For beginners in particular, safewords or signals should always be agreed before a session. The active partner must respect them at all times so that no physical or psychological harm occurs. Ignoring safewords is a serious violation of consent and is not acceptable.
