Stretching bench

The rack is a historical torture instrument from the Middle Ages and the early modern period. It was used to force confessions or statements by inflicting extreme pain. Today, the term is mainly used in a historical or figurative sense.

Its function was to secure a restrained person’s arms and legs to a device and gradually stretch the body. This caused extreme pain and could lead to serious injuries to joints, muscles, and nerves, as well as permanent damage or even death. The rack is not a toy and must never be imitated.
