Findom
Findom is short for “financial domination” and refers to a BDSM or fetish dynamic in which dominance and submission are expressed through money, gifts, tributes, or financial control. The submissive person is often called a “cashslave,” “paypig,” or “moneyslave”; the dominant person may use terms such as “findomme,” “findom,” “cashmaster,” or “cashmistress,” depending on their self-description. In German, the term “Geldsklaverei,” meaning money slavery, is also used, though it may be understood as playful, fetishistic, or critical depending on the context.
Findom very often takes place online, through chats, platforms, wish lists, or digital payments, but it is not necessarily purely digital and may also be part of in-person BDSM dynamics. For some participants, the appeal lies in loss of control, humiliation, worship, ownership, reward, or the fantasy of giving up financial power. As with other BDSM practices, only explicit, informed, and revocable consent makes such a dynamic acceptable at all.
Findom is especially vulnerable to abuse because real financial harm can occur. Responsible boundaries are therefore essential: fixed budgets, no debt, no payments from rent, living expenses, savings, or shared funds, no pressure, no threats, and no exploitation of psychological crises, loneliness, addictive behavior, or dependency. Blackmail, manipulation, identity misuse, sharing sensitive data, or pushing someone into ruinous payments are not legitimate BDSM practices. Anyone who loses control of spending, feels ashamed, goes into debt, or becomes emotionally dependent should end the dynamic and seek support.
