Blindfold

A blindfold is a commonly used item in BDSM and is used for sensory deprivation, meaning the deliberate removal of a sense, in this case sight. It can be as simple as a strip of fabric or as elaborate as a shaped mask. It is often used to increase tension, disorientation and awareness of the remaining senses.

It is important that the blindfolded person feels safe and can give a clear stop signal at any time. Because sight as an orienting sense is removed, trust, clear agreements and a tidy environment are especially important. A blindfold should never be used to give one person inappropriate control over another.
