Demi / Demiboy / Demimännlich / Demi-Mann
“Demi” is not a single standardized technical term for one identity, but rather an umbrella usage in queer and gender-related language for partial identification. A demiboy is a person who identifies only partly, or predominantly but not fully, as a boy or man. Accordingly, terms such as demimännlich or Demi-Mann are used in some German contexts to describe a partially male gender identity.
It is important to distinguish this from demisexual: demisexual describes not a gender identity, but sexual attraction that only develops under certain conditions. In BDSM and sexuality contexts, precise language is helpful so that identity, orientation, and expression are not mixed up. Each person’s chosen self-description should be respected and not simplified or reinterpreted.
