Fetishism / fetish
Fetishism refers to a pronounced sexual fixation or strong erotic attraction toward specific objects, materials, body parts, or symbols. The fetish itself is the object toward which desire, arousal, or a particular preference is directed. Common examples include foot fetish, leather fetish, or a preference for certain garments, fabrics, or scents.
In sexual and BDSM contexts, fetishes can vary greatly and do not necessarily indicate a disorder or problematic behavior. What matters is whether the preference is lived out consensually and positively for those involved. It becomes problematic only if it causes distress, severely affects other areas of life, or is acted out in a non-consensual way.
