Lubrication
Lubrication refers to the natural moistening of mucous membranes, especially in connection with sexual arousal. Depending on the body and the situation, varying amounts of fluid are produced to reduce friction and make penetration or movement more comfortable. The term is also used more generally for making surfaces slippery or more easily glided over.
Importantly, little or no lubrication is not unusual and does not say anything about desire or consent. It can be influenced by many factors, such as stress, hormonal changes, medication, or lack of arousal. If there is pain, dryness, or persistent discomfort, medical advice may be helpful; lubricants can also help reduce friction.
