Genderqueer
Genderqueer is an umbrella term for people whose gender identity or gender expression does not fit traditional binary ideas of “male” and “female.” It can be used both as a broad term for various nonbinary or gender-nonconforming positions and as a personal self-description.
Depending on the person, genderqueer may mean understanding oneself as both woman and man, shifting between those positions, or as neither, or as experiencing gender in a fundamentally different way. The boundaries between terms such as nonbinary and genderfluid are not always clear. Which label fits best depends on the person’s own self-identification and should not be imposed from outside.
