Intergender

Intergender refers to people whose gender identity is neither exclusively male nor exclusively female, but is located between these binary categories or otherwise goes beyond them. The term is sometimes used as a self-designation and may overlap, depending on context, with non-binary or genderqueer identities.

It is important not to confuse gender identity with physical characteristics. Intergender therefore describes not a bodily trait but a person’s gender self-perception. The appropriate term is always the one chosen by the person themselves.
