Grey Gender
“Grey gender” or greygender refers to a gender identity in which a person identifies at least partly outside the gender binary and experiences their gender as faint, unclear, hard to define, or of limited importance. The term is part of the non-binary spectrum and can express that a person’s gender experience lies between categories or only partly aligns with them.
Greygender can be experienced very differently from person to person. Some use the term to describe a rather vague or fluid gender identity, while others use it to express distance from fixed gender categories. As with other identity labels, the person’s own self-definition is what matters. The term should not be confused with uncertainty or a lack of authenticity; it is meant to describe an individual experience as precisely as possible.
