Pheromone
Pheromones are chemical signaling substances released by one individual and perceived by others of the same species. In humans, the role of pheromones is still scientifically debated; a clearly proven direct function as a sexual attractant has not been established. Nevertheless, the term is often associated in popular language with scent, attraction, and sexual effect.
Claims about human pheromones should be treated with caution, as many popular assumptions are oversimplified or not scientifically confirmed. Body odor can play a role in perception, but it is not the same as a simple “attractant.” In sexual or cosmetic contexts, exaggerated promises should therefore not be taken at face value.
