Pill
“Pill” is a colloquial term for the contraceptive pill, a hormonal method of birth control. Depending on the product, it contains either a combination of estrogen and progestin or progestin only. It is taken daily and is mainly intended to prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and alter the uterine lining to help prevent pregnancy.
The pill is an effective contraceptive method, but it is not automatically the safest option for everyone; reliability also depends on correct use and the specific formulation. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Possible side effects, interactions, and individual risks should be discussed with a healthcare professional before use.
