Spooning Position

In the spooning position, both partners lie on their sides close together, with one person behind the other. Depending on the desired sexual practice, this can involve vaginal or anal penetration, but it does not have to. The term primarily describes a comfortable, body-close position that allows for closeness and calm.

The name comes from the resemblance to two spoons nested together. The position is often experienced as intimate and relaxing and can make additional stimulation easier, such as touching the breasts, clitoris, penis, or other erogenous zones. Important factors are mutual consent, comfortable positioning, and consideration for possible pain or physical limitations.
