Stargender

Stargender is a gender identity that does not fit into the binary categories of male and female. The term is mainly used by people who experience their gender identity as outside or beyond the usual gender order and are looking for a distinct self-description. Like many other non-binary identities, stargender can be understood and lived very differently from person to person.

The term belongs to the realm of gender self-description and has nothing to do with sexual practices or preferences. It should not be understood as a universal medical or legal category, but as a personal identity label. Depending on the person, stargender may be part of a broader spectrum of non-binary, gender-nonconforming, or queer identities.
