Tomboy
A tomboy usually refers to a girl or a person assigned female at birth who behaves, dresses, or shows interests in ways more commonly associated with boys or masculinity. The term is often used for children and teenagers, but it can also apply to adults. It mainly describes a nonconforming presentation and does not automatically indicate a particular sexual orientation or gender identity.
The term partly overlaps with “butch,” but it is not the same. While “tomboy” often describes appearance or socialization, “butch” is usually more closely connected to lesbian or queer identity. It is important to use such terms respectfully and in context, rather than as a way to devalue gender diversity.
