Bootcamp

In its original sense, a bootcamp is a tightly organized training camp associated with strict rules, discipline, and physical as well as mental conditioning. The term comes from the military and is used in BDSM as a role-play and discipline scenario, often linked to uniform fetishism or authoritarian staging.

In BDSM, usually only selected scenes or drills are reenacted rather than attempting to simulate an entire camp realistically. The top often takes on the role of a trainer, instructor, or drill sergeant. Such scenes rely on clear rules, hierarchy, and performative strictness, but they must always be consensual, discussed in advance, and adapted to the participants’ limits.

It is important to distinguish between playful staging and real overwhelm: bootcamp scenes must not cause uncontrolled physical or psychological harm. Extreme humiliation, exhaustion, or coercion are only acceptable if explicitly agreed upon, safely limited, and stoppable at any time. Safety, aftercare, and clear boundaries remain essential.
