Cane / Riding Crop
A cane is usually a flexible striking implement that originally comes from equestrian sport, where it is used to urge or control horses. In BDSM it is used for impact play, meaning controlled strikes, sensations, or teasing friction. Depending on material, length, and shape, it can feel either gentle or significantly more intense.
Great caution is required when using a cane. Only previously agreed, physically suitable areas should be struck; the face, neck, spine, joints, kidneys, and bony areas should be avoided. The genital area should only be touched very carefully if this has been explicitly agreed upon. Consent, clear intensity limits, a safeword or stop signal, and attentive monitoring during play are essential.
When buying a cane, pay attention to sturdy construction, comfortable handling, and the right material. Leather, plastic, and other materials differ noticeably in feel and impact; decorative versions exist alongside functional ones. It should not be treated as a toy without risk: even light strikes can cause skin irritation or bruising if used carelessly.
