Frayromantic
Frayromantic describes a romantic orientation in which romantic attraction tends to arise or be noticeable mainly when there is not yet a deep emotional bond with the other person. As stronger familiarity or emotional closeness develops, the romantic attraction may become weaker or disappear altogether.
Frayromanticism is often described as a kind of counterpart to demiromanticism: while demiromantic people usually experience romantic attraction only after an emotionally meaningful bond has formed, frayromantic people may experience attraction that fades as closeness increases. This does not mean that frayromantic people cannot have relationships or do not enjoy closeness; it only describes a possible pattern of romantic attraction.
Frayromanticism can be part of the aromantic spectrum. The term does not indicate sexual orientation, relationship style, or a person’s capacity for care, trust, and commitment. As with all identity terms, what matters is whether a person feels the term accurately describes their own experience.
