Bottom

In BDSM, a bottom is the passive or receiving role. The term describes a position within a scene or dynamic and does not automatically mean submission, since some people switch between roles depending on the context.

Related terms may include sub, slave, or servant, depending on the scene, relationship, and desired dynamic. These labels should not be understood too rigidly: not every bottom is a sub, and not every submissive person uses the same terminology.

Top and bottom are primarily symbolic role labels. What matters is not the term itself, but the prior agreement, consent, and clarity about which actions, limits, and responsibilities apply in the given situation.
