Japanese Bondage
Japanese bondage, also known as Shibari, is an aesthetic form of rope restraint that is often practiced for artistic or erotic reasons. In Japan, the term Kinbaku is also used and usually refers to the traditionally influenced, often especially sensual style of rope bondage. In the BDSM context, the focus is usually not on immobilization alone, but on lines, tension, posture, and presentation.
Despite its aesthetic appeal, this is a physically demanding practice that should only be performed with knowledge, experience, and clear communication. Safe knotting, a pair of safety shears or a cutter within reach, protection from pressure on nerves and blood vessels, and careful monitoring of breathing, circulation, and pain are essential. It should not be attempted casually or without preparation.
