Nymphomania
The term nymphomania is an outdated and derogatory expression for supposedly excessive female sexuality. Historically, it was used to pathologize or morally judge women with strong sexual desire. In modern usage, the term is considered imprecise and no longer appropriate.
If sexual behavior is experienced as distressing, compulsive, or difficult to control, more neutral terms such as compulsive sexual behavior or problematic sexuality are preferred. The key issue is not the number of partners or the frequency of sexual activity, but whether the person is suffering or impaired in daily life. Respectful descriptions should avoid judgmental language.
